YOUR GUIDE TO ELEVATED SAUNA SESSIONS

What is a sauna hat?
Sauna hats have been around for centuries and are used in traditional Russian (Banya) and German (Heilbäder) bathhouses. They are typically made of wool for its natural insulating qualities; heat rises so your head is the first thing to get hot, but it should be protected so that your brain is not overheated (which can cause fatigue and dizziness). We sought to innovate on this tool by adding an extra layer of high quality merino wool to improve the efficacy and benefits of the hat.
Why should I wear a sauna hat?
A sauna hat enhances comfort and recovery by regulating your head's temperature, preventing overheating and discomfort that can end your session early. The sauna hat allows for extended, uninterrupted time in the sauna, maximizing the benefits of heat therapy. In addition, it also protects your hair from drying out and your hair follicles from being damaged.
How do I wash my sauna hat?
To wash your organic merino wool sauna hat, follow these gentle steps to preserve its quality:
- Handwashing is Best: Fill a sink with cool or lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, as it can shrink the wool.
- Use a Mild Detergent: Choose a detergent specifically formulated for wool or delicate fabrics. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or fabric softeners.
- Gently Soak and Swirl: Submerge the hat in the soapy water and gently swirl it. Avoid vigorous scrubbing or wringing.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the hat several times with cool, clean water until all soap residue is gone.
- Press Out Excess Water: Gently press the hat between clean towels to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist it.
- Reshape and Air Dry: Reshape the hat to its original form and lay it flat on a clean towel to air dry. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources.
Why is my sauna hat piling?
Pilling is a natural process that occurs with friction on wool fibers, even high-quality merino wool. Here's why it may happen to your sauna hat:
- Friction: The rubbing of the wool fibers against each other or other surfaces during use or washing can cause the fibers to loosen and form small balls or pills.
- Shorter Fibers: Merino wool, while fine, contains shorter fibers that are more prone to pilling than longer fibers.
- Natural Wear: Over time, normal wear and tear can contribute to pilling.
- Gentle Handling: While unavoidable, gentle handling and washing can minimize pilling.
To remove pills:
Use a wool comb or a fabric shaver designed for delicate fabrics. Gently run the tool over the surface of the hat to remove the pills. Avoid pulling or tearing the pills, as this can damage the wool.

How long should I go in the sauna?
For most individuals, a sauna session of 15-20 minutes provides optimal benefits, but beginners should start with shorter durations of 5-10 minutes. Always listen to your body and exit if you feel any discomfort.
